Australian Man With Autism & Dyslexia Makes Reading Breakthrough
A mother shares her experiences with Reading Upgrade:
Hello. I would like to share with any interested persons about my son Tiga, and his experiences with the Reading Upgrade program. We live in Melbourne, Australia and Tiga has just had his 28th birthday. He is Autistic and suffers with an auditory processing deficit as well as dyslexia.
Tiga has never before been able to learn to read despite various reading programs, special schooling and good teachers, throughout his earlier life. More than a year ago whilst surfing the net I discovered the Learning Upgrade website. We liked the interactive simple game style format presented with the trial program. The “go at your own pace” on the various levels and ( for Tiga ) being able to log on anytime and often day or night was more than ideal. No pressure!
It looked so good, so we enrolled. Best thing we have ever done! The program has proved to be the key for unlocking Tigas’ learning to read and you better believe he is a changed man. He generally logs on once or twice a day and because his disability is severe and short term memory poor, his brain tires quickly with information overload. However Tiga is now reading and although he is slower than the general population, it is a giant step forward and improving everyday. As well, he has new found confidence and gained more independence.
Another important advantage that I wanted to mention was being able to review and review. Some levels such as vowel combinations proved a bit tricky for Tiga but he was able to repeat over and over and over until he felt good enough to move on. For someone as disabled as Tiga, Reading Upgrade has been his saviour.
You are to be congratulated on a very fine program and I hope our story is able to inspire any who may feel like reading will never happen. It can. I have no hesitation in recommending the Reading Upgrade program to those wanting to take the next step…If you need it, try it!
